Description

This Autographed Handwritten Letter has been Personally Signed by George Harrison of The Beatles. This item is 100% Authentic to include a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) / hologram by Beckett Authentication Services. The authenticity can be verified on Beckett Authentication Services website. Writing to his long-time friend Roger Siegel - known as "Gurudas" among the Krishna Community--Harrison pens an incredibly revealing letter. Penned entirely in Harrison's hand, the famed Beatle writes, in full: Friar Park - Henley 24th Sept 97 Dear Gurudas! Hare Krishna to you and your family. Thank you for your letter and your concern, it is nice to know I have friends who care. I had a small "thing" - not too bad, that is being dealt with - but I don't feel sick or haven't been as bad as things sound in the newspapers & rumours! Unfortunately, our good friend Derek died on Sunday 7th of September - and was buried in Sudbury Suffolk on Friday 12th. He was funny & dignified until the end, so he is now in some Loka or another in his body of light. Hari Om Tat Sat. Well I'm off to the garden again. There's a lot to do out there. See you soon somewhere. God bless & thanks again. Your Old Pal, George (Jai Ray Hari Sein).Based on the date of the letter, the "Small 'thing'" that Harrison refers to in his first paragraph was his throat cancer diagnosis and treatment. Harrison would successfully treat the cancer at that time, but unfortunately it would be the disease that would ultimately led to his passing in 2001. In the second paragraph, George discusses the passing of none other than long-time Beatles press officer Derek Taylor, who was not as fortunate with his throat cancer battle, passing away at approximately the same time that Harrison was treating his own bout of the illness. Concluding the letter by signing with his first name and his Hare Krishna name, this letter represents the first time any signature of Harrison's anointed Krishna name has surfaced.
