Edison “ Although the letter seems short and is not specific, this appears to be for his two-plate embossing recorder/repeater which he demonstrated on March 14th, 1877 at the Western Union headquarters in New York. Within 1 week from this letter William Orton on March 22nd so impressed with all of Edison’s experiments and pending patents related to telephones and telegraphs, decides to sign an agreement for all Edison's future telegraph and telephone patents in return for financial support for all of his scientific endeavors. The year of 1877 is considered to be Edison’s most important with the invention of the Phonograph as well.
